D&K’s Robert H. Durfee Receives SENH Award

DuBois & King, Inc., is pleased to announce that Robert H. Durfee, P.E., SECB, Director of the firm’s Civil Works Division was presented an Outstanding Service Award by the Board of Directors of the Structural Engineers of New Hampshire (SENH) for his long term dedication to the SENH organization and for the advancement of the Structural Engineering profession in New Hampshire. SENH is a not-for-profit organization established to pursue common interests of practicing structural engineers.

SENH was established in 1993. Mr. Durfee, a founding director of the SENH organization, served on the Board of Directors for seven years, and as President for three years. He has served on numerous SENH Committees including: Special Inspection, Nomination, Awards, Web Site, and Public Relations. Bob has served for the past 12 years as the SENH delegate to the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA). He has been a member of the NCSEA Advocacy Committee since 2005 and is currently co-chairman.

A Professional Engineer licensed to practice in eight states plus the Virgin Islands, Bob’s career spans 30 years and his project experience includes: bridge rehabilitation and design, roadway design, dam rehabilitation and design, marine and coastal structure design, and railroad structure evaluation and design. Mr. Durfee has extensive experience assisting New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts municipalities with roadway and bridge projects and has completed design, rehabilitation, inspection, and evaluation services on well over 100 bridge projects throughout the region.

Bob has a personal passion for covered bridges and is a nationally recognized expert on the rehabilitation, preservation, and protection of historic covered bridges. He is a published author of numerous technical papers on various structural topics relating to historic covered bridges, masonry bridges, truss bridges, as well as publications on fire protection of historic covered bridges.

In 2008, Mr. Durfee was selected by a jury of peers from New Hampshire's engineering societies as the 2008 New Hampshire Engineer of the Year. The award recognizes exemplary talent, effort, and involvement in the engineering profession and in the community. Mr. Dufree lives in Laconia, New Hampshire and works in DuBois & King’s Nashua, New Hampshire office.
