Description of Professional Services

Five-year indefinite quantity contracts to perform general architectural and engineering services for repair and alteration projects for the Springfield District and Windsor District areas of responsibility. Multi-disciplinary services are provided for a range of new construction and renovation/rehabilitation projects at Postal Service facilities throughout the contract regions.

Work Orders involve heating system conversions, ADA improvements, lobby renovations, elevator additions, new parking lots, interior and exterior lighting, Direct Digital Control installation, on-site wastewater disposal, and facility additions for increased space. Work orders include:

Burlington, Vermont Carrier Annex Multi-disciplinary engineering design, survey, and subsurface exploration services for new 9,000-SF carrier annex located on 2.6-acre parcel. Civil/site services included site grading plan, access drive and parking, review of adjacent traffic conditions, storm water drainage, erosion control plan, concrete sidewalks, and a limited landscape plan. Structural design included footings, foundations, floor slab, steel center support beams and columns; soils testing and evaluation program; schematic truss roof framing plans and construction details; and full length canopy framing and foundations. Mechanical and plumbing design included all necessary services for two bathrooms, one janitor closet, and HVAC design throughout facility. Electrical services included incoming power and telephone services; power, lighting, and communications distribution within the new facility; and security system and criminal investigation systems as required by the USPS. All designs were in accordance with USPS 2000 Building Design Standards and Vermont Energy Efficiency Standards.

Rutland, Vermont Post Office: Boiler Upgrade Engineering services related to removal of two steam boilers and associated ancillary equipment in basement mechanical room, design of new boilers and heating system. Included replacement of steam distribution piping and terminal devices in south half of building (south half constructed in 1935/north half constructed 1967).

Bradford, Vermont Post Office: Survey Services Survey, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and architectural engineering services for renovation of 2,600-SF existing facility and a 2,200-SF expansion. Prepared conceptual, preliminary and final plan submissions. Provided construction administration services.

Essex Junction, Vermont Post Office Pavement Design, Construction Administration & Survey. Used existing plans to prepare facility base maps. Designed temporary gravel access to be used while the improvements were being constructed for main entrance, customer parking, mail carrier vehicle parking, light truck dock area and heavy truck dock area. Provided construction administration services.

Westminster, Vermont Post Office: Survey Services Boundary and topographic survey for basis for development of concept plans for conversion of residence on Route 5 to house the Westminster Post Office.

East Dorset, Vermont Post Office Structural inspection to evaluate interior and exterior condition of wood structure with field stone foundation. Summarized findings with budgetary construction cost estimates for necessary improvements.

East Corinth, Vermont Post Office Property survey and preliminary, conceptual civil/site and architectural plans for renovation and 2,000-SF addition per USPS Building Design Standards to existing 600-SF facility. Developed base plans from survey information. Prepared stormwater, drainage and erosion control plans.

Rutland, Vermont Post Office: Windbreak Architectural and structural design for a windbreak at the recently constructed carrier annex (loading zone).

Rutland, Vermont Post Office: Piping HVAC replacement and reconfiguration of system for 20,000-SF facility.

Jericho, Vermont Post Office: Addition Mechanical and electrical engineering for expansion of 1,500-SF facility. Heating/cooling load analysis, new boiler, oil piping reconsfiguration, sprinkler design, and code requirements. New power distribution, new lighting in addition, and new exit lighting.
