Description of Professional Services
Engineering investigations to document deficiencies and develop alternatives for completion of contract plans, specifications, construction cost estimates, and design engineering services during construction for safety and design improvements to 41 miles of Interstate 91.
Key design concepts involved with improvements include: traffic control devices (signs, posts, pavement markings, mile marker boards and plaques); signage, guardrails, and striping issues; street lighting issues; replacement of bridge railing; replacement or repair of fencing; rehabilitation and construction of culverts and drainage issues (multi-plates, drop inlets, ditches); design of a Traffic Control Plan; relocation of existing utilities; bridge height clearances; environmental impacts, including agricultural land, recreational land, fish and wildlife habitat, wetlands, historical and archaeological properties, air and water quality, social economic, and hazardous waste; evaluation of accident information; geotechnical investigation including ledge removal; evaluation of interchange geometrics; traffic and safety issues; obtaining all required Categorical Exclusion documents (CE’s); ensuring all culverts and highway design is completed in accordance with VTrans Standard Specifications for Construction (1995) and all applicable VTrans design standards and General Special Provisions.
