Charlestown, New Hampshire

Professional Services Provided

  • Water Resources Engineering

Description of Professional Services

Hall's Pond, a 15 acre impoundment, is used by Charlestown, New Hampshire to augment the Town's primary municipal water supply. The dam was overdue for an upgrade to ensure continue safe operation. DuBois & King's water resource engineers were retained to provide assessment and design services.

D&K Service Highlights
  • Phase I: site inspection, filed survey, subsurface exploration, hydrological/hydraulic analysis, conceptual design of repair alternatives, summary report to the Town.
  • Phase II: design of selected rehabilitation alternative – a new stand-alone concrete gravity dam (230 feet long and 8 feet high) poured against the existing wall, construction documents, cost estimates.
Of note:
By leaving the existing dam wall in place and pouring the new concrete against the old wall the Town realized a significant savings in construction costs.
