Construction Services Manager

 

DuBois & King is seeking a Construction Services Manager with 6 or more years of experience.  This is a full time position that can be based in our Vermont or New Hampshire offices.

Supervisory Requirements

  • Hire and supervise construction observation and field office staff
  • Develop and maintain team construction observation standards
  • Develop staffing plans and schedules to meet workload requirements, delivering quality service in compliance with client requirements and expectations
  • Be able to follow and adhere to all local, state and federal OSHA requirements
  • Provide advice to in-house design staff regarding constructability
  • Work collaboratively with other D&K staff, mentoring and training of junior staff to encourage involvement with design reviews, cost estimating, specification preparation, and promotion of construction phase services
  • Manage sub-consultants

Project Responsibilities

  • Perform construction phase administrator tasks such as:
    • Review work identified in the project drawings and specifications
    • Manage quality control of construction services
    • Manage bid phase activities
    • Manage submittal reviews
    • Review contractor payment applications and prepare change orders
    • Perform constructability and bid-ability revisions
    • Prepare documents for execution
    • Conduct preconstruction and biweekly meetings
    • Manage project closeout activities

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a solid working relationship with clients, including former clients and municipalities’ region-wide.
  • Perform networking activities.
  • Prepare agreements for construction phase services including determination of labor and reimbursable expense cost; Including fee development and negotiation of fees.
  • Prepare proposals in response to RFP’s for construction phase services
  • Contact and market construction phase services to communities, private enterprises, state and federal agencies.
  • Maintain and/or improve procedures/protocol for managing the construction services department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6-12 years of experience managing construction projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Experience with public and private sector clients
  • Experience leading and managing a team
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Strong writing and verbal skills

Survey Tech

 

DuBois & King is seeking a draftsperson/survey technician to work in the survey department and assist with fieldwork as well as drafting base plans. Time will be split between the field and office as workload demands. Project types range from topographic survey, boundary surveys, historical right of way surveys, Geodetic Leveling, GPS networks, large construction layout projects, hydrographic surveys and dam surveys.

Responsibilities:

  • The applicant will be responsible for “field to finish” products, for which the applicant will assist with field data capture, and see the product through to a polished base map. This opportunity has room for growth with long-term career possibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to individuals with over five years of relevant experience (though the firm is willing to train the right individual).
  • Positive attitude and energy
  • Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a strong drafting background.

Survey Director

 

DuBois & King (D&K) is seeking a Survey Division Director with 15+ years of experience managing a survey department. Location is flexible to our Laconia, NH or Randolph, VT office.  Responsibilities for this position are associated with leading a growing multi-state survey division within D&K.  Technical work includes (but not limited to):  linear topographic survey, boundary surveys, construction layout; 3d laser scanning, managing projects, developing proposals, and taking an active role in client relations. Several specific job responsibilities include:

Responsibilities  

  • Manage department performance through the following:
    • Manage staff and department deliverables,
    • Direct staff professional development, training and mentoring activities,
    • Manage clients, undertaking business development activities, and strategic planning,
    • Oversight of divisional financial operations and performance.
  • Manage survey division performance and growth, including technical services and business development opportunities, in support of both internal and external D&K clients.
  • Prepare proposals/contracts.
  • Represent company and client(s) interests in public settings such as planning board meetings as well as one-on-one private meetings.
  • Plan, organize and supervise survey crews, technicians, and other staff members.
  • Administer contracts and manage projects, interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments.
  • Conduct work, teach and mentor staff and conduct QA/QC on projects.
  • Establish a solid working relationship with clients, including former clients, state and federal agencies, and municipalities’ region-wide.
  • Establish a working relationship with other D&K divisions and staff.
  • Develop and implement a vision for the department concerning growth, expanding into new technology such as UAV operations, or scanning missions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15 years of relevant management experience in a land surveying focused department or division.
  • Active LS/PLS/LLS licensesure in NH, VT, and ME preferred with a desire to obtain MA/NY.
  • Expected to possess strong self-motivational and organizational skills with the ability to lead, motivate and direct a team of office and field personnel.
  • Ability to operate survey equipment; GPS, Robotic Total Station is required.
  • Background in business, business development is preferred.

Water Resources Lead

 

DuBois & King, Inc. is seeking a Water Resources Lead with approximately 10 years of experience.  This is a full-time engineering position with full benefits in our growing Environmental Services Division.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key assistant to the Divisional Director, participate in divisional workload planning and projections, and staff mentoring.
  • As the water resource department lead you will be responsible for the water resource operations. Operations include but not limited to: business development, new work sales, client management and project management duties including: scheduling, budgets, communications, etc.
  • Provide planning, conceptual, preliminary and final design level-related civil and water resource engineering support. These work tasks are likely to include: investigation, research, calculations, evaluation of alternatives, and development of design details, technical specifications and project cost estimating.
  • Provide technical direction and conduct quality control reviews of watershed and riverine modeling for various projects, such as hydraulic structures, and conduct the work directly as needed. Work may also include fluvial geomorphic and river scour assessments.
  • Experienced proficiency of water resource modeling software, such as GeoHMS, Hydrocad, Flow3D, HECRAS 2D, and ArcGIS modelling.
  • Based on project workload you may be involved with wetland sciences work, such as but limited to: seasonal field delineation, documentation, mitigation and permit-related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred
  • PE License in VT, NH and/or NY required
  • AutoCAD is desirable.
