Environmental Planner/NEPA Specialist

 

DuBois & King is seeking a NEPA Specialist/Environmental Planner with 7+ years of experience. This is a full-time position with benefits and opportunities for professional growth. Primary duties of the NEPA Specialist/Environmental Planner are to provide technical NEPA guidance; preparation of NEPA documents, preparation, planning, managing, and/or analysis/review of technical studies; other writing assignments as necessary; assistance with public outreach activities; and oversight of all aspects of environmental projects including scope, schedule, and budget. An understanding of state and federal environmental processes and the ability to coordinate/establish relationships with numerous resource agencies is key to the success of this position. You will be expected to immediately impact our firm as we seek the best methods to serve our clients. You must exhibit a professional attitude, visionary thinking, innovative ideas, analytical problem solving and a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the coordination and management of assigned NEPA – related projects within the firm
  • Implements effective strategies to complete and streamline environmental documentation
  • Coordinates with state and federal resource agencies
  • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of small to large multidiscipline projects with a high degree of technical complexity.
  • Prepare and review technical analyses and documents, proposals and/or qualifications information.
  • Perform financial management of environmental planning, permitting and compliance tasks and projects.
  • Provide support and expertise for environmental planning and permitting.
  • Maintain an understanding of emerging regulations and industry requirements.
  • Work closely with business development and project delivery teams to win and deliver projects.
  • Developing execution strategies for planning and permitting projects
  • Mentoring staff to expand their understanding of technical and business aspects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field, professional certification/license is preferred (e.g. AICP, PWS, Certified Ecologist, CP)
  • Seven (7) years of experience in the environmental field
  • Knowledge of the Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act
  • Ability to manage study specialists and sub-consultants
  • Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature judgement in anticipating and solving problems
  • Ability to effectively manage concurrent projects and deadlines
  • Strong teambuilding skills
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills required.
  • Able to collaborate with other design disciplines

Water Resources Lead

 

DuBois & King, Inc. is seeking a Water Resources Lead with approximately 10 years of experience.  This is a full-time engineering position with full benefits in our growing Environmental Services Division.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key assistant to the Divisional Director, participate in divisional workload planning and projections, and staff mentoring.
  • As the water resource department lead you will be responsible for the water resource operations. Operations include but not limited to: business development, new work sales, client management and project management duties including: scheduling, budgets, communications, etc.
  • Provide planning, conceptual, preliminary and final design level-related civil and water resource engineering support. These work tasks are likely to include: investigation, research, calculations, evaluation of alternatives, and development of design details, technical specifications and project cost estimating.
  • Provide technical direction and conduct quality control reviews of watershed and riverine modeling for various projects, such as hydraulic structures, and conduct the work directly as needed. Work may also include fluvial geomorphic and river scour assessments.
  • Experienced proficiency of water resource modeling software, such as GeoHMS, Hydrocad, Flow3D, HECRAS 2D, and ArcGIS modelling.
  • Based on project workload you may be involved with wetland sciences work, such as but limited to: seasonal field delineation, documentation, mitigation and permit-related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred
  • PE License in VT, NH and/or NY required
  • AutoCAD is desirable.
