Sidewalk Conceptual Alignment Analysis

Moretown, Vermont

The Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission and the Town of Moretown selected D&K to update the 1996 Conceptual Alignment Analysis for Pedestrian Facilities for sidewalks throughout the Village area. The goal of the project was to reassess the original recommendations, update the associated costs, and confirm public support. D&K identified practical improvements that can readily be implemented through the VTrans Project Development Process. The project area included a 0.8-mile stretch of the VT 100B corridor from Pony Farm Road to Bridge #4 over the Mad River.

Professional services provided for this project included assessing the feasibility and preparing cost estimates for several options to improve the intersection of VT 100B and Moretown Mountain Road. Additionally, D&K assisted Moretown’s Safe Routes to School Committee in preparing their 2010 grant application and to identify options for providing improved access to the school for students.

D&K’s scope of services included compiling base maps and documenting existing conditions; investigating local and regional concerns; identifying activity centers; developing conceptual alignments and plans; identifying right-of-way issues, utility conflicts, natural/cultural resource constraints, and permitting requirements; conducting several alternatives presentation meetings; developing preliminary cost estimates and a project time line; and compiling results in a final report.
