Civil Staff Engineer – Site/Land

 

DuBois & King, Inc is seeking a Civil Staff Engineer with approximately 0-5 years of experience. This is a full-time engineering position with full benefits in our busy and growing Site/Land division.

Responsibilities

  • Learning key engineering software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, WaterCAD and GIS programs/conventions.
  • Assist in the development and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Conduct site reviews as needed for feasibility studies, planning, and design projects.
  • Provide conceptual, preliminary, and final design civil engineering support for all divisions. These tasks are likely to include: investigation, research, calculations, evaluation of alternatives, and design development on a variety of projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
  • BS. degree in Civil Engineering
  • AutoCAD, Civil 3D and GIS experience preferred.
  • Aviation  experience preferred

 MEP Construction Administrator

 

DuBois & King, Inc. is seeking a full-time experienced  MEP construction administrator with 6 or more years of experience to join our growing Building Services Division. Our markets include healthcare, commercial, industrial, institutional, and government projects throughout New England. This position will be based out of our S. Burlington, VT or Bedford, NH offices.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be MEP construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction
  • Review MEP Scopes of Work and equipment pre-purchases for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in the development of the MEP Construction
  • Ability to collaborate on a daily basis with the project team
  • Enforce quality control policies and inspections on the MEP trades
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs
  • Work with project teams to lead and manage MEP preconstruction coordination
  • Communication with electrical/mechanical equipment vendors, electrical/mechanical design engineers, clients, and subcontractors. Internal communication responsibility amongst the different departments and project stakeholders.
  • Support meetings with the owner, architect, and engineer for all aspects of the preconstruction phase of the project.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, HVAC, plumbing, architectural and civil plans, and specifications.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of MEP Systems and equipment.
  • Outstanding communication and time management skills.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years related field experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (at an advanced level) and Microsoft Word. Experience with Procore, Sage Timberline, or other construction management preferred.
  • A strong sense of urgency and initiative.
  • Able to quickly study and react to complex issues
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to act confidently and decisively
  • Respond and adapt to new processes and new ways of looking at old problems.

Construction Services Manager

 

DuBois & King is seeking a Construction Services Manager with 6 or more years of experience.  This is a full time position that can be based in our Vermont or New Hampshire offices.

Supervisory Requirements

  • Hire and supervise construction observation and field office staff
  • Develop and maintain team construction observation standards
  • Develop staffing plans and schedules to meet workload requirements, delivering quality service in compliance with client requirements and expectations
  • Be able to follow and adhere to all local, state and federal OSHA requirements
  • Provide advice to in-house design staff regarding constructability
  • Work collaboratively with other D&K staff, mentoring and training of junior staff to encourage involvement with design reviews, cost estimating, specification preparation, and promotion of construction phase services
  • Manage sub-consultants

Project Responsibilities

  • Perform construction phase administrator tasks such as:
    • Review work identified in the project drawings and specifications
    • Manage quality control of construction services
    • Manage bid phase activities
    • Manage submittal reviews
    • Review contractor payment applications and prepare change orders
    • Perform constructability and bid-ability revisions
    • Prepare documents for execution
    • Conduct preconstruction and biweekly meetings
    • Manage project closeout activities

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a solid working relationship with clients, including former clients and municipalities’ region-wide.
  • Perform networking activities.
  • Prepare agreements for construction phase services including determination of labor and reimbursable expense cost; Including fee development and negotiation of fees.
  • Prepare proposals in response to RFP’s for construction phase services
  • Contact and market construction phase services to communities, private enterprises, state and federal agencies.
  • Maintain and/or improve procedures/protocol for managing the construction services department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6-12 years of experience managing construction projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Experience with public and private sector clients
  • Experience leading and managing a team
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Strong writing and verbal skills

Senior Civil Engineer

 

DuBois & King, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with approximately 8 -15 years of experience.  This is a full-time senior engineering position with full benefits in our busy and growing Dam Engineering Group located in South Burlington, VT or Randolph, VT.

Responsibilities

  • Safety inspection, evaluation, planning, design, plan development,
  • Technical specification preparation of contract documents
  • Construction inspection of dam projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred
  • Related experience in hydrology & hydraulics and permitting is a plus.
  • Technical experience in geotechnical/foundations, structural concrete, earth embankments is required.
  • Experience with applicable FERC dam safety design criteria and state/federal regulations, client development, client interaction, meetings, construction cost estimating.
  • AutoCAD is desirable.
  • VT or NH PE or ability to obtain within 6-12 months is required.
