Fresenius Medical Care North America Dialysis Clinic

DuBois & King provided engineering design services to renovate a commercial space into a medical treatment facility for dialysis. Design services included plumbing, HVAC, electrical, sprinkler, fire alarm, data, and communication systems. The infrastructure had to be independent of the host building systems, contain redundancy, and have generator back-up. The established reverse osmosis process piping system template was replicated to align with the client’s interests in a standardized installation.

Department of Veterans Affairs Building Condition Assessments

Architectural/engineering services for a full condition assessment and evaluation of five buildings on the VA Medical Center Manchester campus. The purpose of the project was to determine the feasibility of the appropriate adaptive reuse of the buildings and risk assessment of continued use of the buildings in their current condition. Assessments included structural integrity; mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems; architectural finishes; insulating systems; utility services; hazardous materials; site considerations; and historic considerations.

Final deliverables included a report summarizing current conditions for all systems and their reusability, renovation options and recommendations, suitability for occupancy, accessibility, and energy efficiency considerations. Provided an analysis of renovation costs to bring the existing building to full building code compliance compared to constructing new buildings of comparable size and occupancy.

Roadway design for improved drainage
ADA accessibility and enhanced pedestrian access
Site lighting for reduced light pollution
Construction traffic maintenance plan for emergency vehicles

Central Vermont Medical Center Office Building

Survey, planning, and design services for site modifications to construct a 44,000-sf medical office building adjacent and attached to the existing hospital. Design included realignment of the driveway canopy and design of a bus pull-off in the loop road. Professional services included designing new alignments for roadway and sidewalks, revising the grade in the vicinity of the canopy with particular attention to curb reveals and sidewalk grades, landscape architecture and lighting design, permitting, and updating the Traffic Impact Study.
