Jericho Market MEP Engineering

DuBois & King provided mechanical-HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for core and shell design for an 18,000-sf “country-style” general market and grocery store. The project consisted of renovation and expansion of an existing metal building. Services included design of premium efficient HVAC, gas-fired VAV equipment, including heat recovery, design of a new domestic water distribution system, public restrooms and “back of house areas.”

Electrical design included a new 1,000 Amp service, general and specific power distribution, interior lighting, exterior building-mounted lighting, and life-safety systems, including fire alarm and security. D&K engineers provided coordination with the tenant’s fit-up MEP requirements, including a centralized rack refrigeration system, full commercial kitchen, deli, and similar food services.

Jay Peak Resort Austria Haus

D&K provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural design engineering services for the renovation to the Austria Haus building at the base of the mountain at Jay Peak. The building was redesigned to serve as a “country store” at the main level. Provisions General Store includes a small commercial kitchen, café seating, a general store grocery area, and retail “logo wear” area.

The store includes a walk-in beer cooler and vertical cooler/freezer grocery cases – both with custom designed economizers for winter free cooling operation. The food service includes a meat and deli line, hot food line, and drink service.

MEP upgrades for the 3-story building include new condensing boilers, pumps with new distributed heating systems, energy recovery unit, new plumbing and toilet rooms, electrical upgrades, and structural improvements. The upper level of the Austria Haus – used as a small conference and banquet facility – received new toilet rooms and improvements to the heating and ventilating systems. The lower level which includes back of house for the store and the mechanical spaces was left largely intact pending future planning by the Owner.

Vermont State House Chiller Upgrades

DuBois & King performed mechanical, structural, and electrical services for the design of a replacement chiller to provide year-round cooling capacity utilizing water-to-air cooling coils. New chiller senses 8 different air-handling units throughout the State House. Design included replacement of control valves on air handling units to provide variable speed pumping to save energy. Structural evaluation was performed to evaluate existing equipment framing and to ensure roof load carrying capacity was adequate.

USDA Forest Service Kiasutha Recreational Area

Inspection, evaluation, and design of improvements to the Kiasutha Recreational Area located in the Allegheny National Forest. Performed inspections of the project site to make improvements for new campsite locations, orientation, accessibility, slopes and grading, drainage, and utility connections. Services included:

Field Survey/Data Collection. Survey and inventory/base maps.

Roadway/Transportation. Design of cul-de-sacs, new parking areas, new roadway sections, replacement of culverts, new drainage ditches, and riprap ditch lining.

Campsite Improvements. Design for improvements and construction of new campsites.

New Campground Loop. Design for new campsite loop including 20 campsites.

Site Design. Design of amphitheater, two playground areas, and accessible pathways.

Facility Improvements. Water, electric, and sewer upgrade design including shower/restroom buildings, and picnic pavilions.

Water System Improvements. Design for new waterlines and replacement of existing waterlines including new valves, stops, and water system drains.

Sewer Systems. Design for new and rehabilitation of sewer lines and manholes, correct infiltration and inflow, and new hookups for campsites.

Electrical System Improvements. Upgrade and design of new electrical services and equipment, and increased capacity upgrades.

Burke Mountain Resort

DuBois & King provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services for construction of two 5-story hotel buildings and a new Day Lodge building that links the two hotels at Burke Mountain Resort. The 157,000-sf facility includes indoor parking garages, commercial and retail levels with conference centers, a full commercial kitchen, restaurant and bar, coffee shop, exercise/spa area, commercial laundry, and skier services. The 116 hotel rooms comprise studio and one and two bedroom units with integrated occupant controls (HVAC, lighting), fire places, and washer connections. Exterior electrical design services included site lighting, exterior pool/hot tub services, and 150,000-sf of sidewalk and driveway snowmelt. The fast-track design was completed in less than 5 months from schematic design to full construction documentation.
