Barre-Enterprise-Aly-1Enterprise Aly is a parking area serving the historic Barre, Vermont, downtown commercial/residential area. Paralleling Main Street/US 302/VT 14, the soil below the site was contaminated by illicit discharge from a drycleaning facility. D&K provided the City with engineering, permitting, and construction inspection supporting the implementation of the Corrective Action Plan (CAP). In addition to implementing the CAP, site improvements include pedestrian and bicycle-friendly facilities and expanded parking. Construction on the project began at the end of the summer in 2015.

Ryegate-$15.2M-Design-Build-Culvert-Replacement-1Moderate storm events repeatedly undermined roadway and railroad embankments served by undersized/flood-prone culverts beneath US Route 5 and the WACR railroad. VTrans selected DuBois & King and ECI to complete the design and installation of two 32-ft-wide, cast-in-place, reinforced concrete arch culverts 60 ft below the roadway/railroad. The culverts are 141 ft and 128 ft in length and will have 100-year service life, eliminate flooding potential, and greatly improve aquatic organism passage. The project is currently in the construction phase.

Waitsfield-Village-Covered-Bridge-and-Bridge-Street-Stormwater-Rehabilitation-1The Waitsfield Covered Bridge is the oldest operating covered bridge remaining in Vermont. A cantilever sidewalk was added to the downstream side of the bridge circa 1940 and over time the sidewalk led to asymmetrical loading on the bridge and racking of the downstream truss. D&K designed improvements to the bridge to reduce or minimize the undesirable loading condition and still maintain pedestrian access across the bridge. In May 2015 construction commenced on the project. The existing sidewalk has been removed, abutments have been widened, and wingwalls have been extended. Additionally, Bridge Street between the Covered Bridge and VT Route 100 has been completely reconstructed including new drainage facilities, sidewalks, curbing, and street lighting. The new pedestrian bridge is scheduled to be installed in early October, with all work being completed several weeks later.
